Determining your pixel pitch

Selecting the appropriate pixel pitch is crucial when choosing an LED video wall to ensure optimal viewing experiences. Pixel pitch refers to the distance between adjacent pixels. For applications requiring close viewing, such as control rooms, a smaller pixel pitch is recommended for sharper images. Conversely, larger pixel pitches (e.g., 3mm and above) are suitable for outdoor displays or areas with greater viewing distances.

So should you just go for the smallest pixel pitch available? Well, no, as finer pixel pitches often come at a higher cost. By aligning pixel pitch with viewing needs, users can strike a balance between image quality, budget, and application requirements for an optimal LED video wall selection.

The difference between indoor and outdoor led

Indoor and outdoor LED displays differ significantly in their technical specifications to cater to distinct environmental challenges. Indoor displays prioritize high resolution, superior color accuracy, and optimal viewing angles, as their primary use is in controlled lighting conditions. These screens often feature finer pixel pitches for close viewing distances, ensuring sharper images. Applications for indoor LED include control rooms, corporate lobbies, and TV studios.

On the other hand, outdoor LED displays require robust construction to withstand harsh weather conditions, varying temperatures, and increased brightness to combat ambient sunlight. Outdoor screens are therefore brighter, incorporate weatherproofing measures, and employ specialized coatings to enhance durability. Additionally, outdoor displays have coarser pixel pitches since viewers typically stand further from the wall. Markets for outdoor LED displays include events, digital signage, and advertisement.
